This
design is used after orthodontic
treatment to adjust minor rotations
of the anterior
teeth. The spring is a “staple
type”, placed lingual
to the central and lateral incisors.

The + 2 has a “mushroom
type” spring behind the central
and lateral incisors. It is also used
to adjust rotations in the anterior
teeth and gives extra forces in the
facial
direction. This retainer can be used
to correct 1-2mm discrepancies in the
facial direction of the anterior teeth.

Accutech’s Super + 2 also
uses the “mushroom
type” spring. There are helices on
the adjustment loops of the labial bow to
adjust
the rotations in the anterior teeth. These
helices enable this appliance to make facial
and lingual
corrections of these teeth. The limitations
of corrections are 1-2mm in either direction.
